How to add a custom grating size to the McNichols Variable GAA 19P4 existing macro in Advance Steel

In this video, we will show you how to add a custom grating size to the McNichols Standard GAA 19P4 and McNichols Variable GAA 19P4 existing macro in Advance Steel 2018.

The issues can arise if you are working on an industrial project, perhaps a platform or a stair tread that requires a certain grating size, which might not exist in Advance Steel. However, it is possible to add a new size to an existing macro, which is done from the Advance Steel Management Tools (aka ASMT).

When you open the Advance Steel Management tools you must select the Table Editor category. You will see a window pop up. Simply select the AS icon in the upper left corner of the first window and navigate to the AstorGratings category.

After expanding the arrow adjacent to the title, you will see an extensive list of gratings which Advance Steel has to offer. Simply make the changes to the standard and the variable grating of your choice. Remember to load settings in Advance and Update Defaults back in the model.

You can now benefit from the knowledge of how to add any size of grating to your preferred choice.

Advance Steel is now part of the Autodesk AEC Collection, which contains a comprehensive selection of products. Please send us a message if you have any queries:
