Inventor User Day 2016 - Virtual Reality demo

We had lots of interest in the VR headset at the Inventor user day. People were queuing up to have a go. We set up at the back of the room and gave our MFG customers a chance to see some of the demos available.

The opportunities for the future with this technology are endless. We are developing Apps that enable the MFG sector to interrogate their model in real-time right in front of their eyes. The customer will be able to pick up the product and pull it apart to see how the design is configured. Then make changes to parts or colours using pre-defined options as per the customer’s requirements.

Another very good use of virtual reality in the mechanical sector is a Virtual Configurator. Imagine going to a bespoke car manufacturer and choosing the design of the car before purchase. Make changes to the upholstery fabric and stitching then pick which kind of wheels it has etc.

At a click of a button the car will update and the customer can see it in real-time as if they were stood next to the car. But the biggest benefit is they can then walk around the vehicle and get up close, even get inside to inspect the interior. This would be a very cost effective way of seeing the product and tailoring it to the customers’ needs before a penny is spent on manufacture.

Any questions or if you would like me to come to your business to run a demo please contact me:
