Real-time Walkthroughs

Here in the Graitec design and visualisation studio we are entering the real-time walkthrough arena. We started off by using Unity and created an interactive app for a client. This product enabled the customer to walk around their model, change wall colours and see a map of the property. Any of our AEC customers who have a Revit model can now see their design come to life and just like a computer game, walk around the building in real-time and get a truly immersive interactive experience.

We are now excited to be getting involved with Autodesk stingray which is a new acquisition for the Autodesk portfolio, it is a powerful game engine that offers the ability to create real-time walkthroughs. We will be offering this service to our customers; if you have a Revit model then we can bring it to life.

For example, you want to show your customer a variety of interior design styles. We can create a menu on the wall, the customer can walk up to it and select what type of colour or design they want. Perhaps the customer would like to see different types of window before they decide on what type they would like, we can create a menu for this and the customer can toggle through the different options.

The main benefit is being able to navigate around the building before it's created and really get a feel for the space before anything has been physically built. The product could also be used in the BIM workplace as information can be pulled out of the model at a touch of a button.

Revit can provide BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools for architects, MEP engineering, structural engineers and construction. This is step one and you the customer may already have a Revit BIM model we can use.

Using the Revit link we can bring this model into 3ds Max which is now fully integrated with Stingray for real-time design exploration. Using our model library and high end texture maps we can really make your design look fantastic.

Using the 'live link' the model can export from 3ds Max into Stingray, this will allow the user to view, modify and interact with the 3D visualisation in real-time.

We now have another tool in the studios armoury for creating a truly exciting and new way to see our customers designs come to life.
