Just in case you missed our Annual Inventor User and Digital Prototyping 2015 Launch Day we are giving you an insight into what you can experience in Inventor 2015 if you aren't already using it.
Within Inventor, Autodesk have developed and introduced an alternative modelling approach to allow you to discover and produce freeform shaped models using direct manipulation. Freeform modelling can be used in combination with parametric tools or alone to create organic shapes where parametric tools are unavailable or difficult to use.
It gives you the option of using an existing design and then add freeform into the design to create rough shapes where size and shape are not yet established. Particularly if you use the Freeform Match Edge command to modify a freeform body to match an existing model or sketch geometry.
Once you've created your models you may want to edit it directly. This can now be easily done using the direct editing tools to easily manipulate native or imported geometry.
With the new tools it is possible to parametrically move, resize, rotate and delete imported solid models or native Inventor files.
Through the development of 2015, Autodesk have enhanced the large assembly capabilities together with the introduction of Express Mode. Express Mode introduces a new way of working to generate views, speed the creation, design and documentation of large assemblies in a fraction of time.
It also improves graphics performance in large assembly for pan, zoom and rotate in both full and express modes.
In terms of previews you now have further enhancement of previews of all your drawings than in previous versions as well as raster view creation that can now use express data at 4-6x faster than 2014.
Inventor 2015 also comes with a new mode for stretch constraint enhancements. This mode entitled Relax Mode allows for easy creation and manipulation of constraints to modify geometries that are already constrained.
You will now be able to experience greater control over constraints with improved display, inference and delete options with the possibility to select constraint filters and preserve dimensions with an equation.
But don't worry if you don't like Relax Mode it can be disabled if required.
As for further enhancements you are now able to drop down within sketch text and create point within a vertical intersection of two sketch elements.
However, it's not only the tools that have changed in Inventor 2015 your Inventor Home has been modified for an improved home and learning experience.
This allows you to customize your dashboard so that it is tailored to your individual needs. With this new flexibility you are presented with your recently used files, template display options and the ability to pin your favourites to the front page for an overall more user friendly home.
You also have the bonus of a new improved search procedure which gives you the option to search within your software for contextual help and global search to provide you with the information you require.
