This Months Tips & Tricks Focus Is On: Setting the default Inventor drawing template
How can you set the default Inventor drawing template shortcut to use the .dwg format rather than the .idw?
Solution: Change the option within the ‘Drawing’ tab of the ‘Application Options’ Select ‘Application Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu & select the ‘Drawing’ tab.
From within here & located under the heading ‘Default Drawing File Type’, use the drop down and select the .dwg format. This update changes the shortcut to revert to the .dwg format drawing template rather than the .idw template. In order for this to work, both template files must be named either ‘Standard.idw’ or ‘Standard.dwg’ and be filed within the correct location. This location can either be specified within the ‘Files’ tab of the ‘Application Options’ or alternatively within the ‘Folder Options’ of the project dialog box.
