"The joy of working with excellent software is the opportunity it provides to push the boundaries of engineering and that's what we achieved with this sculpture."

SuperSECTION - Section Property Calculator
Calculate Geometric and Material Properties of Standard, Arbitrary and Built Up Sections for use with SuperSTRESS
Use SuperSECTION to calculate Area, Moments of Inertia, Neutral Axis, Elastic Modulus, Plastic Modulus, Section Centroid, Torsion Constant, Warping Constant, Shear Centre, Principal Properties and Equivalent Material Properties of any shaped cross section.
SuperSECTION calculates the section properties using both the Boundary Element Method and the Finite Element Method.
Featuring powerful drawing and editing tools (including zoom and pan, cut, copy, paste, delete, move, undo and redo) plus the ability to handle curves and voids and an active report writer. Input data graphically, from tables, from our built-in library of standard sections, from AutoCAD dxf files or from digitised images (scanned photos or drawings). These calculated sections can then be added to the users standard sections file for use with future analysis projects within SuperSTRESS.
Our simple 3 step process provides, quick and easy section calculation:
1 Draw
Import any AutoCAD file (dxf format) or use intelligent drawing tools can be used to draw any section shape or used to modify and build up existing standard sections. Including;
- polar and orthogonal tracking
- object snaps
- grid snaps
- drawing or text input
- automatic zoom & scale
Standard Graitec UK sections can also be automatically imported
2 Create
Use the drawn sections to create shapes of individual material properties. SuperSECTION automatically recognises closed drawn areas.
3 Calculate
Calculate the properties of sections composed of two or more material types.
SuperSECTION can provide the following values for the transformed section;
- area
- moments of inertia
- neutral axis
- elastic modulus
- plastic modulus
- section centroid
- torsion constant
- warping constant
- shear centre
- principal properties
