SuperSTRESS Tip 4 Non-Linearity

The fourth of our user tips involves SuperSTRESS' non-linear capability. There are three main areas of SuperSTRESS which are non-linear, one way acting supports, compression / tension only members and, which is shown below, Large Displacements.

  • If you have a job which has large displacements you may achieve more accurate results by using the Large Displacements option when analysing
  • Go to Tools>>Settings and select the "Analysis" tab, then check the "Large Displacements" tick box, changing the settings if needed
  • Then run the analysis again and you should observe different results
  • In the example above the maximum values for DX displacement reduce from 1403.2 mm to 1393.2 mm
