SuperSTRESS Tip 7 DXF Export and Import

The seventh of our user tips series describes the use of a recently added new feature, DXF export and import. You can now export your SuperSTRESS jobs directly to a DXF file, which can also include the member profiles, and this can then be opened in any CAD based drawing package supporting the DXF file format. Also you can import particular layers from any DXF file to start a new SuperSTRESS job from scratch or add to an existing job.

View Demo

Export
  • Open the SuperSTRESS job that you wish to export
  • Make sure you are in SuperSTRESS mode and go to File>>Export>>CAD (.dxf)
  • Select which axis you wish to appear as vertical in AutoCAD and the dxf file name
  • Select which structure set you wish to export and whether you want to export both "members" and "memberprofiles" layers, then click "Export" to create the file
Import
  • Open an existing job or an empty job of the correct Structure Type
  • Go to File>>Import>>CAD (.dxf)
  • Select the dxf file you wish to import and whether you wish to Overwrite the current job or Append the DXF file to it
  • Select which layers you wish to import and also the chord length if you are importing curved (ARC) members, then click "Import"
