Last week saw Autodesk unveil yet another cloud based service, this time intended to enhance BIM workflows even further.
Infraworks 360 Pro provides the latest 3D modelling, visualisation and cloud-based collaboration technologies to help governments and civil engineers accelerate infrastructure projects and maintain sustainable economic growth.
The launch followed a report estimating $60 trillion (USD) in infrastructure investment would be required to maintain global GDP growth through 2030, though this is likely to be met with only $24 trillion (USD) from the world’s leading economies.
So what have Autodesk done to help narrow the gap.
Infraworks 360 Pro heavily utilises the power of the cloud, meaning this could transform the way infrastructure professionals manage big data, create 3D models and collaborate on infrastructure projects.
The cloud access gives all stakeholders the ability to view and collaborate on project models via desktop or mobile devices anytime, anywhere.
And as ever the cloud can perform computer intensive tasks such as analysis, simulation and rendering of high resolution models without the need for high-spec workstations.
Infraworks 360 Pro also has the functionality to import a variety of condition data including GIS, satellite imagery and point clouds making it possible to rapidly create proposals and designs within the context of real site conditions.
The software is going to be readily available on a quarterly basis to accommodate long or short term projects – users will have the flexibility to renew at the end of each quarter though no pricing structure has been outlined as of yet.
This is Autodesk’s second product to shift towards a SaaS (software-as-a-service) model since fusion 360 in June, giving users shorter term contracts and more cloud functionality than ever before.
