Autodesk Plan To Discontinue Upgrade Purchase Options

Autodesk-Policy-ChangeThere’s been a few questions regarding Autodesks plans for upgrades in the future, so we thought we’d try and clear things up a little.

On the 1st February 2015, Autodesk will discontinue upgrade purchase options for all non-current product versions.

This means customers with perpetual licenses will be able to continue using that version of software indefinitely, though all upgrades of non-current software will be eliminated, across all product lines. Customers in possession of a perpetual licence with Subscription will continue to receive upgrades as part of their Subscription benefits.

Autodesk will however continue to provide cross-grades from the current product release to a vertical or suite solution, e.g. a current AutoCAD user could upgrade to Building Design Suite or a current Inventor user could upgrade to Product Design Suite.

Again, this will not affect software licences with a valid Autodesk Subscription. These customers will continue to receive software upgrades as long as they continue to renew their Subscription.

This change was announced during the Autodesk investor day on the 2nd October 2013 but more information will become available throughout the next year.

We will continue to keep you informed as the year progresses.
