Have you ever wanted to show off your work or demonstrate a useful practice that you've come across but not sure how to capture it? Well now Autodesk have devised a utility and web service to allow you to do this.
Autodesk Screencast is a free service that has been recently released and is available for anyone to use.
Previously known as Autodesk Project Chronicle, it was put through a lengthy technology preview in Autodesk Labs to allow users to test and evaluate the tool before it was made available to the masses.
The Autodesk Screencast website allows users to show off their knowledge and share it with others. It is a teach and learn service because you can provide training and support via videos, this in turn helps others to develop their skills on many Autodesk programmes.
Because the Screencast is all about recording the projects you are working on they have provided a tool that can be used within Autodesk programmes including:
• Fusion 360
• Autodesk AutoCAD 2013-2015 family of products
• Autodesk AutoCAD LT 2013-2015 family of products
• Autodesk Inventor 2014-2015 family of products
• Autodesk Inventor LT 2014-2015 family of products
• Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013-2015 family of products.
But the great thing is that it can be used inside other secondary software to broaden its use and appeal.
On the website you will be able to easily download the recording tool to capture your projects. When you install the Screencast it is essential to make sure the AutoCAD plugin is ticked because this will allow you have command level information.
To get the Screencast working and launched you have to go onto the Add-Ins ribbon tag inside your chosen software and from here you can select and change several options for your video. Once you have done your recording you can add a voiceover and edit it further if you wish too.
Then it is so easy to add your video to the Screencast site once you have recorded, edited and uploaded it, all from within your software. You will be prompted with a link to Screencast and it will then be processed onto the site.
And voilà you will then have shared your content with the world for all to watch and learn from.
