Following tradition, Building Design Suite 2015 is as it has always been is a comprehensive portfolio of interoperable design software that supports BIM and CAD based workflows to help you design, simulate, visualise and construct better buildings.
However, Building Design Suite 2015 has benefited from a vast array of new features that it has inherited from the abundance of software that is included in the suites.
We have previously explored the new features of AutoCAD 2015 on this blog but one of the world's leading CAD applications deserves to be discussed under the umbrella of Building Design Suite.
Since 2014 AutoCAD has undergone a change to an updated modern interface and has introduced a new tab to quickly open new and existing drawings which can be found along the reorganised Ribbon Galleries. 2015 also allows you to find tool locations in a greatly simplified process with the Help Window functionality.

Talking of Revit (And Revit Architecture) – the new release allows you to have continued support for increased productivity and higher quality design with the further enhancements of the software for increased control and efficiency.
Autodesk ReCap like always allows you to capture and integrate 3D reality data but for 2015 within your laser scan workflows you are now able to utilise new capabilities for visualising, sharing and taking actuality measurements from scans in the cloud.
When employing Navisworks Simulate 2015 within the latest version of Building Design Suite you will notice that you now have the ability to perform 2D & 3D qualifications in order for you to produce quicker and higher quality renders when connecting to Autodesk 360. Also you now have easier access to your BIM 360 documents with a one button entry point which will enables you to communicate and collaborate model information quicker.
As for 3ds Max Design 2015, Autodesk has further enhanced the capabilities to import and visualise point cloud data sets and partake in connected reality capture workflows with certain Autodesk products.
For those of you who have a particular interest in using Infraworks alongside their design suite will be pleased to know that is has been developed to include support for additional data formats including AutoCAD 3D DWG, Civl 3D DWG, 3D DGN, IFC and Sketchup (SKP).
Autodesk have also given you the ability to save time within Infraworks 2015 by introducing the function of contextual on-canvas access.
And last but not least Autodesk (as I have previously mentioned on this blog) have updated their much loved software Inventor to include an assortment of customer-requested productivity improvements.
