Which is best?
The good news is, you don’t need to decide. You can now use both these tools for what they are best at!
Autodesk Inventor is Autodesk’s versatile Computer Aided Design application for mechanical design, simulation, visualisation and documentation. It has been with us for 20 years, and is a mature and robust enterprise solution for design and engineering.
Fusion 360 is Autodesk’s cloud based CAD/CAM/CAE tool for collaborative product development, and is best described as ‘Inventor’s little brother’. Fusion covers a lot of the same bases as Inventor, but it is cloud based and has only been with us for a few years.
The good news is that both Inventor and Fusion 360 are included in the Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing Collection, which means that you can try both out and work out which tool works best for you for any given task.
