Revit Tips - Site Plan Orientation In Revit

In Revit it can sometimes be useful to have our plans orientated to true north, that way they can be used in planning documents and to make accurate sun studies. Unfortunately, true north is rarely the most convenient way to work as project walls are likely to be positioned at some an angle, uncomfortable to work with.

In this situation we need to rotate our plan so the main structure has easy to use 90 degree walls.

This rotation process is called Project north and both Revit & Revit LT have tools that provide True North and Project North settings.

In this short 'site plan orientation' video I show an easy method to set up your project in Revit so your Site plan view is at True north and your detailing plan views are orientated to Project north.
