I came across this question recently, how to show a new render finish on an existing brick faced wall and still use phasing to show the existing brick wall in one view and the new rendered wall in another view. The wall also has existing windows and doors but one window will be blocked up. My first thought was this is not going to be easy.
Here is my solution, first thing I created a brick faced wall with windows and a door and set everything to Existing.
I then created a second wall 20mm thick with just a render/GWB material
I draw this new wall using Finished Face on the brick face of my existing wall
(Note: I left some brickwork visible at both sides)
At this point it looks like I will need to add openings in the new Render wall to match the windows and door positions because the windows and door can’t cut two separate walls, but If I use the Join Geometry tool (Modify Tab> Geometry Panel) and join the two walls, I won't need to worry, as the windows and door now cut through both joined walls.
I can use the Phasing tools as normal
Show All Show Previous Show New
I can also block up a window using the demolish tool
