This Months Tips & Tricks Focus Is On :Frame Generator

How can you use the ‘Frame Generator’ to create bent tubing rather than individual segments of tube?

Solution: Within the ‘Insert’ tool dialog box, use the ‘Merge’ tick box under the heading ‘Placement’ After selecting to use the ‘Frame Generator’ and selecting the ‘Insert’ option from the panel bar, select the geometry (skeletal model) that determines the position of the frame members and specify which type of profile you require.

By default Inventor 11 & 2008 will want to place an individual member of section based on each 3D line or arc. However, with the new 2008 version there is an option that allows you to merge the run into one single member. To do this, whilst within the ‘Insert’ tool dialog box, select the ‘Merge’ option under the heading ‘Placement’ as shown within the following example.
